Police arrests communist rebel wanted for frustrated murder

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced the arrest of a communist rebel in Northern Samar who is wanted for frustrated murder.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced the arrest of a communist rebel in Northern Samar who is wanted for frustrated murder.

Identified as Pablito Ancermo Laureano, he was arrested during a law enforcement operation in Brgy. Curry, Lope de Vega town in Northern Samar on July 4.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. on Monday said, Laureano is an identified communist terrorist group member and is included in the top six most wanted persons of the Lope De Vega Municipal Police Station.

Laureano is now under the custody of the 1st Northern Samar Provincial Police Office for proper disposition, the PNP said.

“I commend the efforts of our personnel for another accomplishment in line with the anti-insurgency campaign against the communist terrorist group in the country,” Danao said.

“Sa ilalim ng bagong administrasyon ng ating bansa ay mas lalo pa nating paiigtingin ang ating mga ginagawang hakbang upang panatilihin ang kaayusan tungo sa isang progresibong pamayanan,” he added.
