MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s inaugural on Thursday was peaceful and orderly, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Through activation of Manila Task Force Shield, our police force along with other government agencies have successfully prepared and implemented all security measures for the solemn and orderly conduct of the inauguration of President Marcos,” said PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. in a statement.

According to Danao, no “significant untoward incident” was reported in Manila and the rest of the country.

Danao also said that aside from the mass protest staged by a group in Quezon City, the PNP did not monitor any significant incidents and public assemblies coinciding with the event held at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.

“I extend the congratulations of the national leadership to the inter-agency committee that put together this well-coordinated and well-organized national event,” he said.
