2 farmers arrested for growing marijuana plants in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY — Two farmers were arrested by policemen for allegedly growing marijuana plants at Sitio Handalago, Barangay Nataban in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Friday, June 24.

Armando Mesino Quejado, 27, and Peter Benigay Laor, 30, were taken into police custody after concerned citizens informed authorities that they were planting marijuana plants, said Lt. Ruby Aurita, San Carlos police spokesperson.

Seized were 57 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated weight of 2,000 grams.

The marijuana was valued at P240,000.
