MANILA, Philippines — Vice President-elect Sara Duterte “will do a great job,” President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Sunday.
After Duterte’s inauguration at the San Pedro Square in Davao City, Marcos said he is proud of his running mate.
“I am so proud of her. She’s gonna be great. She will do a great job. I know it,” he said in an ambush interview.
Aside from being the incoming vice president, Duterte will also serve as the Education secretary under Marcos’ administration.
Duterte clinched the vice presidency after getting more than 32 million votes in the May 9 elections.
Meanwhile, Marcos will take his oath as the 17th Philippine president at the National Museum on June 30 — the last day in office of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, the father of Sara Duterte.
Marcos received around 31 million votes in the elections and was proclaimed as the country’s next president.
