MANILA, Philippines — A huge part of the country would continue to have a warm and humid weather over the weekend but the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may cause cloudy skies and rains over southern portions of Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday afternoon showed cloud bands hovering over the southern tip of Visayas and in Mindanao.

“Kaya inaasahan natin na sa Caraga, Northern Mindanao area, kasama na ang Bohol, Southern Leyte ay magkakaron pa rin ng maulap na papawirin na may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at pagkidlat, pagkulog,” weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

While the rest of the country would have fair weather, Pagasa warned about the possibility of isolated thunderstorms especially in the afternoon. But so far, state meteorologists have not found any low pressure area or tropical cyclones near the country.

For Saturday, temperatures over Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa are expected to range from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius, while it would be a scorching 24 to 35 degrees for Tuguegarao, 27 to 33 degrees in Legazpi, 26 to 32 degrees in Laoag, 17 to 25 degrees in Baguio, and 22 to 31 degrees in Tagaytay.

But for Visayas and Mindanao, weather would be slightly colder due to the cloudy skies. Tacloban may expect temperatures of 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, Cebu with 26 to 31 degrees, and Iloilo with 26 to 32 degrees.  Cagayan de Oro would have something between 24 to 31 degrees and Zamboanga with 24 to 33 degrees.

In Davao City, temperatures would be between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius. Pagasa’s three day forecast shows that weather would remain the same on Sunday, the date of Duterte’s inauguration.

As of now, no gale warning has been raised in any part of the country, as sea conditions range from slight to moderate.
