MANILA, Philippines — The ridge of the high pressure area (HPA) over Luzon will continue to block the entry of southwest monsoon, bringing fair weather across the country, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, easterlies will continue to affect the eastern section of Mindanao, bringing rains and thunderstorms in the area, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its morning bulletin.

“Ngayong araw, ine-expect natin na sa buong bahagi ng ating bansa ‘yong generally fair weather conditions maliban na lamang sa mga tsansa pa rin ng pulo-pulong pag-ulan dulot ng mga localized thunderstorm,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in an early morning forecast.

(Today, we’re expecting generally fair weather conditions nationwide, except for isolated rain showers which may be experienced due to localized thunderstorms.)

Pagasa, however, maintained that the public should remain cautious of possible flash floods or landslides in the event of severe thunderstorms.

The ridge of the HPA, extending over northern and central Luzon, will help calm the weather and clear the skies,

No tropical depression is expected to develop within the Philippine area of responsibility, and safe sailing conditions will prevail over the country’s seaboards.
