Philippines will be typhoon-free this week, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The country would be typhoon-free for this entire week, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Weather specialist Obet Badriña said their latest monitoring shows no sign of a low-pressure area forming or likely entering the Philippine area of responsibility from Wednesday up to the weekend.

“Base nga sa ating latest satellite image, wala pa ding low pressure area na binabantayan na maaaring pumasok o mabuo sa Philippine area of responsibility,” Badriña said in Pagasa’s weather report on Tuesday afternoon.

(Based on the latest satellite image, there is no low-pressure area that is expected to enter or form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.)

“Ibig sabihin po, maliit ang tiyansa na magkaroon ng bagyo sa mga susunod na araw, at least for this week wala pa din po tayong bagyong inaasahang pumasok o mamuo sa ating Philippine area of responsibility,” he added.

(This means there is a slim chance of a typhoon in the coming days, at least for this week there is no typhoon expected to enter and form within the Philippine area of responsibility.)

Nevertheless, Pagasa said some areas in the country could still experience overcast skies and rain on Wednesday due to the easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

Eastern Visayas and the Caraga Administrative Region would experience cloudy skies, too, as well as scattered rain showers and thunderstorms also due to the easterlies, the state weather bureau added.

As for Metro Manila and the rest of the country, Pagasa said a fair weather condition could be anticipated with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday.

No gale warning was likewise raised in any of the country’s seaboards for June 15, Badriña said.
