LIGAO CITY—Three volcanic earthquakes, accompanied by a rock fall, have been recorded around Mt. Mayon in Albay province, authorities said Monday, June 13.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) registered the quakes after a 24-hour observation and monitoring, said Dr. Paul Karson Alanis, resident volcanologist.

Alanis said in a text message that they observed an emission of white smoke or steam from its summit.

He said one could notice, at night, a faint glow in the crater, but is not visible to the human eye.

Despite the volcanic earthquakes, Mt. Mayon remained under Alert Level Zero, which means there is no imminent eruption, Alanis said.
