MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is affecting parts of Luzon and Visayas on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.

“Sa kasalukuyan, ITCZ pa rin po o ‘yung intertropical convergence zone ‘yung nakakaapekto dito sa area ng southern Luzon at Visayas kaya’t posible po silang makaranas ng makulimlim na panahon na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at pagkidlat, pagkulog,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said in a public weather forecast.

(Currently, ITCZ still affects the area of southern Luzon and Visayas so there is a possibility of gloomy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.)

Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Aurora, Bulacan, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Camarines Norte will have overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country meanwhile will experience fair weather or partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

According to Bulquerin, no gale warning is raised in the country’s seaboards.

“Malaya pong makakalayag ‘yung mga kababayan nating mangingisda o ‘yung may maliliit na sasakyang pandagat, pwede pa rin po silang pumalaot,” he said.

Furthermore, no weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
