Olongapo City to hold river, beach cleanup drive

OLONGAPO CITY — The local government will hold a coastal cleanup drive in various locations in the city as part of its celebration of the 56th Cityhood Anniversary.

Based on an advisory, the cleanup drive that will cover several rivers and beach areas in the city would be spearheaded by the Olongapo City Agriculture and EcoTourism office at 6 a.m. on June 13.

Areas for cleanup include Parola in Barangay Kalaklan, Driftwood Beach in Barangay Barretto, and rivers in the villages of Banicain, New Kababae, and New Ilalim.

Residents in these areas were encouraged to join as volunteers to help rehabilitate these bodies of water that suffer from pollution due to industrialization and commercial activities. INQ
