P10M ‘smuggled’ cigarettes seized in Bataan

ORION, Bataan—Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials and police in this town confiscated on Tuesday, June 7, P10 million worth of cigarettes allegedly smuggled into the country.

BOC Commissioner Leonardo Rey Guerrero ordered the seizure and raid of a farm resort at Barangay San Vicente in this town after complaints from residents that community variety stores sell fake cigarettes.

Confiscated from a variety store were 18 master cases of cigarettes and 488 cases more from the farm resort.

Customs Collector William Balayo of Port of Limay asked residents to be on the lookout for fake cigarettes in their area and report them to authorities immediately. INQ
