179 more contract COVID-19 ; active cases stand at 2,459 – DOH tracker
MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 tracker of the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday showed that 179 more people in the country contracted the coronavirus as active cases stood at 2,459.
The new infections drove the country’s total confirmed coronavirus cases to 3,691,724 since 2020. This sum includes the 3,628,809 recovered patients as well as the 60,456 patients who died from the viral disease.
The number of fresh cases shown on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker presents a lower daily average compared to the agency’s weekly data, which noted 185 new infections from May 30 to June 5, or a total of 1,295 new cases in the past week.
On Sunday (June 5), the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker showed 219 new coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, the health agency reported that only 11,991 people have been tested for SARS-CoV-2 on June 5. SARS-CoV-2 is the latest strain of the coronavirus that causes serious respiratory illness COVID-19.
