VP-elect Sara Duterte to be inaugurated in Davao on June 19

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President-elect Sara Duterte will be inaugurated at San Pedro Square, Davao City on June 19, her camp confirmed Saturday.

The event will be kickstarted with a thanksgiving Mass attended by Archbishop Romulo Valles in the San Pedro Cathedral at 3 p.m.

While the Mass is open to the general public, Duterte’s office said a live stream will also be projected on LED walls along San Pedro street reaching the corner of CM Recto and Anda streets, Bolton street, up to corner Magallanes and Rizal streets.

Shortly after, Supreme Court Justice Ramon Paul Hernano will administer Duterte’s oath-taking as the 15th vice president of the Republic of the Philippines.

A MUSIKAHAN: Pasasalamat concert, headlined by Andrew E, Isay Alvarez, and Robert Seña, among others, will then cap off the series of events on her inauguration day.

Duterte’s camp stressed that public health and safety protocols must be observed throughout the day.

Everyone will also be required to go through security screening upon entry. Bringing pointed objects and backpacks, as well as wearing jackets, will also be prohibited.

Persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and visibly pregnant women will have a separate area allotted for them.

Sara Duterte, the daughter of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, won the 2022 presidential race after amassing over 32 million votes. She will also serve as incoming education secretary under the administration of her running mate, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
