MANILA, Philippines — The National Museum of Fine Arts will be closed from June 6 to July 4 to allow “special preparations and arrangements” for the oath-taking of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The National Museum of the Philippines made the announcement Thursday after the camp of Marcos Jr. disclosed that he will have his inauguration at the historic museum on June 30.

“To allow for special preparations and arrangements to be presided over by the Inauguration Committee, we will need to close the National Museum of Fine Arts temporarily,” the National Museum of the Philippines said in a Facebook post.

“Please be notified that the National Museum of Fine Arts at the Old Legislative Building, Padre Burgos Drive, Manila, will be closed from Monday, June 6, until Monday, July 4,” it added.

The National Museum of Fine Arts will reopen on July 5 at 9 a.m., the National Museum of the Philippines said.

Meanwhile, the National Museum of Anthropology and the National Museum of Natural History will continue regular operations until further notice.

“We apologize for any inconvenience, and express our thanks for your understanding,” the National Museum of the Philippines said.

“Everyone can be assured that we at the #NationalMuseumPH will do our utmost to support this forthcoming momentous event of the presidential inauguration,” it added.

Incoming Presidential Management Staff secretary Zenaida “Naida” Angping said the area was found to be a “suitable venue” for the oath-taking following the inaugural committee’s ocular inspection.

The National Museum of the Philippines previously served as the venue for the inauguration of former Presidents Manuel L. Quezon, Jose P. Laurel, and Manuel Roxas.
