MANILA, Philippines — One hundred eighty-two more people in the country contracted COVID-19, based on the data posted on the Department of Health’s (DOH) tracker on Thursday.
The 182 new coronavirus cases drove current active cases nationwide to 2,334 and total confirmed infections to 3,690,889 since 2020, the DOH monitor also indicated.
To date, the number of patients across the country who recovered from the disease stood at 3,628,100 while the death toll reached 60, 455, also according to the DOH COVID-19 tracker.
These recorded new infections were slightly lower than the average number of new cases logged from May 23-29, which was 188, but higher than the 126 fresh infections posted on Wednesday, June 1.
A total of 20,339 individuals were tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on May 30, the DOH said.
In the last 14 days, the health agency said Metro Manila logged the most number of new COVID-19 cases at 1,044, followed by Calabarzon with 398, and Central Luzon with 248.
In Metro Manila, Quezon City had the highest number of fresh infections during the period with 170, followed by Manila with 169, and Cavite with 145.
Infections have been increasing, although slightly, in the past few weeks, after experts warned that COVID-19 infections may surge by May due to neglected health standards.
