MANILA, Philippines — President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. met with several lawmakers Tuesday to tackle the legislative agenda of his incoming administration.

  • Isabela First District Rep. Tonypet Albano and Iloilo First District Rep. Janette Garin

Last Monday, Zubiri said Marcos Jr., who will assume his post on June 30, “wants to shape up the legislative agenda immediately.”

“He instructed me and incoming Speaker Romualdez to sit down and discuss possible legislative agenda for the Sona [State of the Nation Address],” Zubiri said.

Endorsement for Zubiri?

The meeting took place as Zubiri and Sen. Cynthia Villa were still vying for the Senate leadership.

According to Dela Rosa, Villar is open to a term-sharing agreement with Zubiri for the post.

However, according to the press release of the Marcos Jr. camp, Zubiri did not discuss the possibility of term-sharing during Tuesday’s meeting with the president-elect.

Villar did not attend the meeting.

Senator Imee Marcos, the president-elect’s sister, said it would be “unlikely” and “quite improper” for his brother to endorse his own candidate for the Senate presidency.
