OLONGAPO CITY — The rate of crimes involving women and children in Central Luzon in the last five months has gone down by as much as 11 percent, authorities said Monday.

According to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), a total of 763 incidents of such crime were registered in the region from January to May this year. This was lower compared with 857 incidents recorded during the same period in 2021.

“The significant decrease in crimes against women and children can be attributed to the leveling up of our anti-criminality measures utilizing social media as one of our platforms, as well as maximum efforts on police community relations,” said Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, PRO3 director, in a statement.

He added: “The significant decrease in crimes against women and children can be attributed to the leveling up of our anti-criminality measures utilizing social media as one of our platforms as well as maximum efforts on police community relations.”
