SUBIC BAY FREEPORT–An additional P0.78 per kilometer will be collected from motorists passing through the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) starting June 1.

In an advisory, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation said the adjustment in the toll rate was approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

According to NLEX Corp., the toll increase followed regulatory procedures and underwent a thorough review. It confirmed the periodic rate adjustments due in 2017.

Public utility buses would be given toll subsidies and allowed to pay the old rates for the next three months to cope with the higher toll rate for the 93.7-kilometer expressway.

Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists with Class 1 vehicles traveling between Mabalacat City to Tarlac will be charged an additional P31.

Motorists with Class 2 vehicles traveling on the same route will pay an additional P61 and those with Class 3 vehicles will pay an additional P92.

An additional P49, P98, and P147 will be charged to motorists using Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles, respectively, traveling between Mabalacat City and Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport).
