Higher NLEx toll takes effect beginning May 18
MANILA, Philippines — Motorists who use the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) will start paying higher toll on May 18 after the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved a “nominal” two to three percent increase in toll.
Starting 12:01 a.m. on May 18, the new rates for Class 1, 2 and 3 vehicles passing through the Open System of NLEx will be:
- P60 (addition of P2 from P58) for Class 1 vehicles (cars, jeepneys, pickups, taxis, vans or vehicles with two axles and are at least 7 feet in height)
- P149 (addition of P3 from P146) for Class 2 vehicles (buses and small commercial trucks)
- P179 (addition of P4 from P175) for Class 3 vehicles (large trucks and trailers)
Motorists using the entire length of NLEx will be charged extra, too:
- P272 (from P266) for Class 1 vehicles (cars, jeepneys, pickups, taxis, vans or vehicles with two axles and are at least 7 feet in height)
- P679 (from P665) for Class 2 vehicles (buses and small commercial trucks)
- P815 (from P799) for Class 3 vehicles (large trucks and trailers)
The rate adjustment, according to NLEx Corp in a statement, was part of approved periodic toll increases due in 2012 and 2014.
It said the TRB allowed a staggered collection of the toll increase to “cushion the impact” of the increases.
