House energy panel chair Mikey Arroyo lauds BBM negotiation with OPEC

MANILA, Philippines — House energy committee chairman and Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo has lauded the move of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos to negotiate with the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to address the alarming rise in oil prices.

Arroyo in past statements have echoed the need for urgent measures in the short term to address rising oil prices that have resulted in potential economic effects that will surely adversely impact Filipino families.

The impact on Filipino families is what Arroyo has used to further advocate measures for government to work on sustainable and renewable sources of energy to ensure the future.

“Energy security should be the priority of this and future administrations. There is a need for us to maximize our resources, encourage private-public partnerships, embark on green energy initiatives all in the name of self sufficiency,” Arroyo added.

In a recent statement, the House Energy Chair said he dreams of the day when the Philippines will be 100-percent powered by green energy.

Arroyo has been going around different power plants in the country, inspecting its operations and ensuring they are providing enough power supply in its respective areas. He has visited the Macban Geothermal power plant in Laguna, First Gen Clean Energy power plant in Batangas, Citicore Clark Solar Power Plant in Pampanga, and Pililla Wind Farm in Rizal.
