Palace condoles with kin of fatalities in vessel fire tragedy near Quezon port

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday extended condolences to the relatives of those who died on a vessel that caught fire near a Quezon port, saying an investigation is already underway.

“Nagpapaabot po ang pakikiramay ang Malacañang sa mga taong nawalan ng mahal sa buhay dahil sa trahedyang nangyari malapit sa port ng Real sa probinsya ng Quezon kung saan ang isang passenger vessel ay nasunog,”acting presidential spokesperson Secretary Martin Andanar said in a Palace briefing.

(Malacañang is extending its condolences to those who lost a loved one due to the tragedy that happened near a port in Real in Quezon province where a passenger vessel caught fire.)

Andanar also offered prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured.

“Ayon sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), lahat ng pasahero at mga crew members ay all accounted for,” he said.

The PCG earlier reported that seven passengers died after a fire broke out on a vessel bound for Real, Quezon.

According to the PCG, 127 passengers survived, 24 of whom were injured.
