TAGBILARAN CITY — A 33-year-old tourist from Cebu drowned while swimming in a cold spring on Sunday (May 22) at Candijay town in Bohol province.
Rescuers found Rolly Tura, a resident of Barangay Gabi in Cordova town, Cebu, in the Canawa Cold Spring at 4:45 p.m., almost six hours after he plunged into the spring and never surfaced, according to Police Chief Master Sergeant Joseph Bayron, Candijay police investigator.
Tura was successfully retrieved through a joint operation of the Philippine Coast Guard, Tarsier 117 and the Candijay municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO).
The MDRRMO reported that the victim was located around 18 meters deep.
The rescue and operation was difficult because of strong current and zero visibility.
