MANILA, Philippines — Presumptive Vice President Sara Duterte has urged candidates and their followers to put politics and the divisiveness of the elections behind them.

Duterte renewed UniTeam’s appeal for unity, saying those people elected to be their leaders should start focusing on serving them all – whether supporters or opponents.

She urged her supporters – and indirectly, all winners in the May 9 elections – to take the initiative to offer a hand of reconciliation to losers and their followers for the sake of unity.

They should be magnanimous in victory, Duterte said.

Tayo ang Sana all, tayo ang Sara All. We have to be magnanimous because we are only 31.5 million (voters). Kailangan natin sila para tayo ay maging isang 100 percent na bansa,” she said.

Duterte expressed gratitude to the more than 31 million Filipinos, including overseas workers, who voted for her and Ferdinan Marcos Jr., and to their campaign staff and support groups.

She said their tandem’s victory is as much the victory of their voters and supporters.

Dahil sa inyo, nandito ako,” she said.

Meanwhile, Duterte promised to introduce reforms in the Department of Education (DepEd), which stewardship Marcos has offered to her.
