MANILA, Philippines — There are no irregularities in the alleged “68:32 magic” which has been hounding the 2022 polls, a Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) official said Tuesday.
The “68:32 magic” — a claim that for every vote update, a consistent pattern of 68 percent and 32 percent of the votes are going to former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo, respectively — has been circulating on social media.
“The question was the 68:32 issue or pattern that people are talking about in social media. So, when we saw that this morning, I kindly already asked some academic institutions and I’m very grateful to Ateneo and [the University of Santo Tomas] for visiting us today,” PPCRV chair Myla Villanueva said in a press briefing.
“At the moment, since their time this afternoon, they have reported no irregularities in that pattern,” she added, inviting other academic institutions to look into the data.
As of Tuesday, a day after the May 9 polls, Marcos is leading the PPCRV’s partial and unofficial electronically transmitted results with 30,988,979 votes. Robredo followed with 14,771,802 votes.
As of posting time, the votes from 105,515 out of 107,785 clustered precincts are already counted.
