MANILA, Philippines — Various cancer support groups in the country have expressed their support for former Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito’s return to the Upper Chamber.
In a joint statement of support, five cancer support groups hailed Ejercito as a “champion” of cancer advocates.
“Kami ay mga cancer support groups na nanawagan sa inyog atensyon upang humingi ng inyong tulong sa pagboto sa kampeon ng cancer, si Senator JV Ejercito,” read the statement.
The support groups that signed the statement include CanShare, the National Federation of the Ostomates of the Philippines, the Philippine General Hospital Social Service Cancer Fighter Support Group, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center Aruga, and KA-Bond of Optimistic Breast Cancer Survivors.
The groups also recognized Ejercito for leading the passage of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act of 2019.
“Siya ang pangunahing nagsulong ng batas sa cancer upang mabigyan kami uli ng pag-asa at pagkakataong maging malusog at malakas na mamamayan ng Pilipinas,” they said.
The former Senator has long been an advocate of improving healthcare services and facilities in the country.
During his first term in the Senate, Ejercito was the principal sponsor of the Universal Healthcare Law and supported the construction of specialty healthcare centers in key provinces.
