Sara Duterte is our ‘Iron Lady’, says Bongbong Marcos
TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — Calling his running mate an “Iron Lady”, presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he would entrust his life to vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
In a video played before their supporters during their miting de avance on Thursday, Marcos commended Duterte-Carpio for leading Davao City and fighting criminality.
“Ipagyayabang ko na siya ay ulirang maybahay, siya ay isang ina na may tatlong anak na inaalagaan. Isang abugada na laging tumutulong sa lahat. Siya ang ating ‘Iron Lady’,” Marcos said in the said video.
(I will boast about how she is a good wife. She is a mother who has three children to take care of. She is a lawyer who helps everyone. She is our ‘Iron Lady’)
“Pero sa kabila ng kanyang pagiging matapang ay buong puso naman siyang nagmamahal sa mga Pilipino. Kahit buhay ko, ipagkakatiwala ko sa kanya,” he added.
(But despite her courageous nature, she wholeheartedly loves the Filipino people. I will even entrust my life to her.)
Marcos added: “Siya ang babaeng kasama nating lalaban para sa bayan (She is a woman who will join us in fighting for our country).”
This was the very first time that the said video was played in the entire three-month campaign of the Marcos-Duterte tandem.
Previously, Marcos would campaign for Duterte-Carpio in his actual speech.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio said their camp will continue guarding the votes come the elections next week, May 9.
“Hindi natin alam ano mangyayari. Pinaghahandaan namin lahat ng pwedeng mangyari. Ipinagdarasal namin sa Diyos ang resulta at ipagpapatuloy namin ang pagbantay sa boto,” Duterte-Carpio said in an ambush interview with reporters.
(We don’t know what’s going to happen. We are preparing for all scenarios. We are praying to God that we have a good result.)
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio held their second miting de avance this week in Tagum City, marking the end of their campaign in the Mindanao.
The tandem will hold their last miting de avance in Parañaque City over the weekend.
