LUCENA CITY––A 27-year-old welder was killed Tuesday night, May 3, by an unidentified gunman in Candelaria town, Quezon province.

Quezon police reported that Jayro Kim Jerald Chavez was sitting in front of his house when the gunman, armed with a caliber 9-mm pistol, appeared and repeatedly shot him at 7:40 p.m. in Barangay Sta. Catalina Sur.

The killer escaped while Chavez died on the spot, the police said.

Investigators found seven spent shells at the scene of the crime.

Master Sergeant Arthur Archivald Real, the case investigator, said Chavez had no criminal record.

The police are conducting further investigations to unmask the gunman and establish the motive behind the killing.
