2 motorcycle riders shot dead in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – Two motorcycle riders were shot dead on Sunday (April 24) in Candelaria town in Quezon province, police said Monday.

Quezon police reported that Antonio Ilagan and Ericksel Canchela, both of legal age and residents of neighboring Sariaya town, were traveling aboard a motorcycle along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Mangilag Sur about 3:30 p.m. when they were repeatedly shot by the two assailants.

The still unidentified suspects left both victims dead on the spot. The report did not provide details on the shooting incident.

Investigators found five empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol and another empty shell from a Super .38 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Cpl. Michael Arellano, case investigator, said they are facing a blank wall in the investigation.

“According to the relatives of the victims, both of them had no known enemies,” Arellano said in a phone interview.

The victims also had no history related to illegal drugs.

The police are conducting further investigation to indentify the killers.
