MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies, and rain were forecast to continue over Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen on Wednesday amid the prevailing weather system of a low pressure area (LPA) within the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) near Mindanao.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was last located 245 kilometers east-southeast of General Santos City. But weather specialist Obet Badrina assured the LPA was still less likely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

“Inaasahan pa rin natin na malaki pa rin ang tiyansa ng pagulan sa may bahagi ng Caraga, Davao Region at Soccsksargen dulot ng LPA,” said Badrina in a weather report late Tuesday afternoon.

(We still expect a high chance of rain in parts of Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen due to the LPA.)

Meanwhile, the rest of the country – Luzon, Visayas, and other areas of Mindanao – would also continue to experience generally fair weather conditions although with chances of rain in the afternoon and evening.

Pagasa then said that on Wednesday, temperature ranges in key cities/areas nationwide would be:

  • Metro Manila: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 16 to 25 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City:  24 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 25 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 22 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius

Despite the presence of LPA and ITCZ, Badrina said Pagasa is not raising any gale warning because only slight to moderate sea conditions could be expected in the country’s surrounding seaboards and in-land seas.
