TANOD SHOOTS MAN

A BARANGAY tanod in Labangon, Cebu City, shot and wounded a man over a traffic dispute on Thursday afternoon.

Andres Yap, 48, surrendered to Labangon barangay captain Victor Buendia shortly after he shot Junard Torrenueva, 20, of barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

Police said the two men argued after Yap’s motorcycle was hit by a trisikad driven by Torrenueva.

Police said the argument led to a fistfight.

During the scuffle, Yap drew a gun and shot Torregosa, said police.

WOMAN FOUND DEAD

THE body of a woman was found floating in the waters off barangay Pulangbato, Bogo City, northern Cebu, on Thursday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Sidra Yoson Bostrillo, 42, of barangay Dayuhagon, Medellin town.

Mency Bostrillo, sister of the woman, told police that the victim left home last June 16 and failed to return home.

There were no indications of foul play in the woman’s death, said police.  CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

MANDAUE SCHOOL BURGLARIZED

A CLASSROOM of the Labogon National High School in Mandaue City was burglarized on Thursday.

Taken during the burglary were two digital cameras, one central processing unit, a video camera, a USB flash drive, a card reader and a rechargeable battery, said police .

Two boys were arrested as suspects in the burglary.

One boy admitted to the police that he served as a lookout in the burglary.

He identified his two other cohorts as Ruben Precillas, 21, and Richard Dela Peña, 22, who remain at large.

MARIJUANA PLANTS UPROOTED

AT LEAST 400 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and 500 seedlings were seized by authorities in barangay Caurasan, Tuburan town, northwest Cebu, on Thursday afternoon.

No one was arrested during the operation conducted by members of the 78th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The confiscated marijuana plants were turned over to the Tuburan police station.
