COVID-19 hits 1,399 more in PH from April 25 to May 1
MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 stricken 1,399 more people in the country from April 25 to May, according to the weekly coronavirus update of the Department of Health (DOH) issued Monday.
According to the DOH, the week’s tally is 5 percent lower than the recorded fresh infections the week prior which was at 1,465 – or an average of 200 new cases per day from April 25 to May 1 and an average of 209 cases per day from April 18-24.
Also, the DOH said that no one among the 1,399 new cases was classified as severe or critical.
An additional 25 people were also verified to have died from COVID-19 in the past week. Specifically, the DOH said the death of 56 people happened in April while the rest of the count happened in the previous months.
Meanwhile, the weekly update on COVID-19 showed that the healthcare utilization rate slightly decreased to 16.3 percent from April 18 to 24’s 16.9 percent. The use of beds at intensive care units dedicated to coronavirus patients also decreased from 16.9 percent to 16.1 percent last week.
Article continues after this advertisementCurrently, the DOH report likewise noted, the number of people who continue to suffer severe and critical COVID-19 symptoms was 723 and in terms of vaccination progress, fully-vaccinated people were at 67,911,464 (75.45 percent of the target population) after 425,985 more people were vaccinated from April 25 to May 1.
