Villar vows to push for continuation, completion of Tayabas bypass road

A bypass road projected to be the fastest route from Lucena, Quezon to Batangas is now substantially completed, senatorial aspirant and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar said as has vowed to push for the continuation and completion of the 6.05-kilometer Tayabas bypass road.

“I am in support of DPWH’s current efforts to continue the completion of this project. It also aims to decongest traffic within the town proper of Tayabas. In our effort to improve the lives of the Filipino people, we need this kind of infrastructure, and should be given top priority,” Villar said in a statement.

Once completed, Tayabas Bypass Road will be the fastest, safest route from Lucena and Tayabas towards Sariaya, Candelaria, and San Juan, Batangas, saving approximately 20 to 30 minutes of travel time during peak hours.

“Motorists will be able to utilize this 4-lane bypass road, supporting the economy of Tayabas town which is famous for its a distilled alcoholic drink made from coconut called lambanog,” Villar added.

The bypass road begins at the junction of Tayabas-Lucban Road in Barangay Lalo (Guanzon) and ends at the junction of Tayabas-Mainit-Mauban Road in Barangay Mateuna, passing through five (5) major creek crossings.

“Asahan niyo po na patuloy akong naka suporta sa pagsasagawa ng mga road and bridge infrastructures. With this road, we hope to encourage more investments for the Tayabas town, most especially in under-developed areas that will be traversed by the bypass road”, Villar ended.

This project is one of the eight by-passes or diversion roads being built in Region IV-A. These includes the Alaminos-San Pablo City By-Pass, Batangas City-San Pascual-Bauan Road, Gumaca By-Pass Road, Jct. Batasan-San Mateo-Rodriguez Bypass Link Road, Lucban Diversion Road, Mauban Bypass Road, and STAR Tollway-Pinamucan Bypass Road.
