MANILA, Philippines — New partylist Ang Kabuhayang Kayang Kaya (AKKK) #107 aims to improve digital connectivity which will enhance micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Mufaida “Muffy” Alonto-Macatoman, AKKK Partylist’s first nominee, said that small businessmen who were able to access the internet were able to strive during the height of the pandemic.

“Nung nagpandemya anong nangyari? Ang nagstrive lang po talaga ay marunong sa digitalization. The new business is online, you have the logistics,” said Macatoman.

AKKK is joining the national polls this May to represent the MSMEs in the Lower House.

Macatoman cited that the internet remains inaccessible in the far flung regions where there are also small business.

She cited that 99.6 percent of all registered businesses in the country are MSMEs. These businesses therefore have huge contribution to the Philippine economy.

“Dapat may equal opportunity para sa lahat. Pero papaano po if dito nga lang sa Mindanao ang internet connectivity is really poor?” she siad.

“So ‘yung infrastructure for internet activity has to be there also.”
