MANILA, Philippines — Eight persons died while three others were injured after a fire broke out in a residential area at the University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman in Quezon City early Monday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.
The BFP said that the fire hit around 80 houses in Village A.
First alarm was raised at 5:20 a.m. and the second alarm by 5:38 a.m.
The blaze was placed under control at 6:35 a.m. and was declared fire out at 7:00 a.m.
The incident displaced around 250 families.
Damage to property was pegged at P150,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation as of posting time.
