Pagasa: Rain expected in parts of N.Luzon, Mindanao; fair weather elsewhere

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of northern Luzon and Mindanao will have scattered rain showers on Monday due to a low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and the frontal system, according to the the state weather agency.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was spotted 40 kilometers south southwest of General Santos City at 3 a.m. and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday or Wednesday.

“Dahil sa epekto ng low pressure area at ITCZ, sa Caraga, Davao Region, at Soccsksargen ay magiging maulap ang kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorm,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

(Due to the low pressure area and ITCZ, Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.)

“Dahil sa frontal system, sa Batanes at Babuyan Islands ay magiging maulap ang kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorm,” he shared.

(Due to the frontal system, Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.)

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather with possible isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, coastal waters in extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
