MANILA, Philippines—The province of Sorsogon has the most number of local government units (LGUs) in the country that are certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), said Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
In a statement on Saturday, Escudero announced the distinction with the recent ISO certification of the municipalities of Bulusan and Irosin.
The former senator added that Bulusan and Irosin are the seventh and eight municipalities, respectively, to receive the ISO certification out of Sorsogon’s 15 municipalities.
Escudero said the Sorsogon towns of Barcelona, Bulan, Castilla, Donsol, Pilar and Sorsogon City have received their certifications, while the rest are in the process of audit, according to Escudero.
“This ISO certification reinforces the kind of service we deliver to the people of Sorsogon,” Escudero, who is also running for senator, said.
The Switzerland-based ISO is a standards-setting body consisting of experts all over the globe and is recognized worldwide for focusing on quality management systems and in documenting processes, procedures and responsibilities on quality and control, as well as professionalizing the ranks of employees for quality services.
