MANILA, Philippines — If elected, presidential candidate Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso would be willing to appoint “reds” and “yellows” in his Cabinet.

“I want people who are good in their respective field of undertaking,” Moreno said Thursday during an ambush interview at Bacolod City Hall. “As I have promised the people, my basis of the appointment is meritocracy.”

“’Pag magaling ka sa isang field of undertaking, kahit dilaw ka, iha-hire kita. Kahit pula ka, iha-hire kita. Kasi ang mahalaga sa akin ay ‘yung kapakinabangan ng taong bayan,” he added.

The incumbent Manila mayor previously said he is willing to give government posts to presidential rivals like Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Panfilo Lacson should he win the presidency.

But Moreno said that if he loses, he would prefer to retire and spend more time with his family than accept any Cabinet post that would be offered to him by a fellow presidential aspirant who defeated him.
