SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––At least 58 people were arrested over the weekend during anti-illegal gambling operations in Central Luzon, the police said.
In a report on Monday, April 25, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said the suspects engaged in “Cara y Cruz” (coin toss), bet games, and illegal cockfighting.
Seized from the suspects were illegal gambling paraphernalia, five dead fighting roosters, 18) live fighting roosters, seventeen rooster gaffs, two gaff covers with strings, a motorcycle, and “kolong-kolong” (improvised tricycles).
Also seized during the operation from April 23 to 24 was P17,684 worth of bet money.
The suspects will be charged with violating the anti-illegal gambling law.
“PRO3 continues to mount full-scale operations against illegal gambling and strictly imposes the full force of the law as it steps up its campaign against all forms of lawlessness to minimize criminality in every locality,” said Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, PRO3 chief, in a statement.
