21 arrested by NCRPO in anti-illegal gambling crackdown in QC, Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-one persons were arrested in Quezon City and Parañaque City as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) intensified its crackdown on illegal gambling activities.

NCRPO chief MGen. Vicente Danao Jr. earlier ordered the conduct of a continuous anti-gambling campaign in Metro Manila.

According to the NCRPO’s report, eight people were arrested for illegal gambling in Quezon City in a joint operation by the Philippine National Police Regional Intelligence Division (PNP-RID) and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) on August 17, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. along Mabini Street in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches.

Those arrested were identified as Raul Barandino, Rolando Monera, John Ryan Marinas, Jesibol Obispo, Fermin Dagnio, Mario Arizobal, Javier Cinita, and Balery Peronio.

Meanwhile, 13 suspects were nabbed in Barangay San Antonio Parañaque City at about 7:45 p.m. on August 21,2021.

The suspects arrested were identified as Jose Pelaez, Adela Crisostomo, Nerlio Cacho, Helen Donor, Dioscoro Honorio Jr., Victor Aquino, Reyman Encarnacion, Elmer Cortez, Christopher Labrador, Christian Suarez, Ruben Foo, Nelson Simbulan and Eboy Hemor.

The NCRPO said those arrested were playing “loteng,” an illegal numbers game.

Authorities said all suspects were of legal age and are residents of the city, and are currently under police custody.

Confiscated by the Parañaque police were the bet cash amounting to P16,759.000, 11 calculators, and various illegal gambling paraphernalia.

“All the suspects arrested were subjected to inquest proceedings for Violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Illegal Gambling,” the NCRPO’s report said.
