PNP files frustrated murder raps vs 4 in shooting during visit of Ka Leody

A case of frustrated murder was filed on Friday against the four personnel of the pineapple plantation who fired on members of the Manobo-Pulangihon indigenous tribe who were trying to occupy a portion of their claimed ancestral domain while being accompanied by presidential candidate Ka Leody De Guzman.

MANILA, Philippines — A case of frustrated murder was filed on Friday against the four personnel of the pineapple plantation who fired on members of the Manobo-Pulangihon indigenous tribe who were trying to occupy a portion of their claimed ancestral domain while being accompanied by presidential candidate Ka Leody De Guzman.

Police Regional Office-10 spokesperson Lt. Col Michelle Olaivar said one of the victims of the shooting filed the complaint against the four personnel of the plantation before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

“A case of frustrated murder was filed already at the office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Malaybalay, Bukidnon,” Police Regional Office-10 spokesperson Lt. Col Michelle Olaivar told INQUIRER.net.

Olaivar, however, refused to divulge  the identity of four respondents.

The respondents have 10 days to answer the subpoena, according to the spokesperson.

“In 10 days po kapag hindi sila sumagot, there is a possibility na lalabasan sila ng warrant of arrest, Yan po pwede na sila expose,” she explained.

De Guzman was not injured in the incident, but five people were hurt after the personnel of the pineapple plantation fired on members of the Manobo-Pulangihon indigenous tribe who were trying to occupy a portion of their claimed ancestral domain.

The Partido Lakas ng Masa standard bearer was accompanied by senatorial aspirants Roy Cabonegro and David D’Angelo, who visited the Manobo community as part of their political party’s Mindanao sortie.
