MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two drug personalities in two separate buy-bust operations in Central and Southern Luzon, seizing P800,000 worth of crystal meth, locally known as “shabu.”
According to PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos in a police report, the first suspect, identified as Jayson Joven, 24, was arrested by local police during a buy-bust operation in Bagong Bayan, Barangay Cutcut, Angeles City at 7:45 p.m, April 20.
Carlos said Joven was listed as a “high-value target.”
Confiscated from the suspect during the arrest were three transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 60 grams estimated to be worth P408,000.
Meanwhile, the second suspect, identified as Princess Bariwa Gundayao, 37, listed as a “newly-identified” drug personality, was arrested by regional police officers in a buy-bust operation along Lupang Arenda, Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal.
Arresting officers confiscated 70 grams of “shabu” contained in five transparent plastic sachets estimated to be worth P476,000.
Carlos said both suspects are now facing separate criminal charges for violations of RA 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
“Let us continue our strengthened and relentless campaign against illegal drugs with a greater focus on bringing High-Value Drug personalities to justice as we steadfastly commit to the government’s aspiration of a drug-free and the crime-free Philippines,” said Carlos.
