CABANATUAN CITY––A 10-year-old girl died Monday after she reportedly drowned while swimming with two other children and an adult companion at the Upper Pampanga River in Barangay Mayapyap Sur here, the police said.

Investigators identified the fatality as Princess Anne Payumo. City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office personnel recovered her body.

The police said the rescue team rushed the girl to a local hospital, but the attending physician pronounced her dead upon arrival.

The girl’s cousin, 7-year-old Daren Franco, was still missing, while Daren’s 12-year-old sister, Jamaica, was rescued by a fisherman, the police said.

An investigation showed that the three went to the river with the Franco siblings’ father, Danilo, at 12:50 p.m. The children were seen later drowning.

Rescue and recovery efforts would continue, police added.
