MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continued to court more governors, convening 14 of them and a former local chief executive in his Mandaluyong City campaign headquarters on Sunday night.
Marcos’ camp also claimed that 73 of 81 governors nationwide were backing the candidacy of the late dictator’s son and namesake although these supportive local chief executives were not listed.
The governors who met with Marcos Jr. included Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines president Dakila Cua of Quirino; Susan Yap of Tarlac; Jose Riano of Romblon; Florencio Miraflores of Aklan; Philip Tan of Misamis Occidental; Eduardo Gadiano of Mindoro Occidental; Alexander Pimentel of Surigao del Sur; Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr., of Mountain Province; Bai Mariam Mangudadatu of Maguindanao; Suharto Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat; Rodito Albano III of Isabela; Danilo Suarez of Quezon; Arthur Yap of Bohol; and Hermilando Mandanas of Batangas.
Also present was former Antipolo Gov. Casimiro Ynares III, representing his wife, incumbent governor Rebecca Ynares.
