NCRPO seizes P2.3-M shabu in 2-day anti-drug ops, nabs 14 suspects
MANILA, Philippines – At least 14 drug suspects were arrested and around P2.3 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) were seized in a two-day anti-narcotics operation in five cities, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
The simultaneous operations were conducted from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning, according to the NCRPO.
In a statement on Wednesday, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad said that operatives from Malabon City arrested three suspects and recovered around 10.9 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value worth P74,120.
In Caloocan City, Northern Police District authorities apprehended one high-value target and seized 75 grams of suspected shabu valued at P510,000.
The NCRPO also reported that the Manila Police District arrested three drug suspects and seized 113 grams of shabu worth P768,400.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the Southern Police District also conducted an operation in Makati, which arrested one drug suspect and seized 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Taguig City, six drug suspects were arrested, and 76.7 grams of shabu worth P521,560 were confiscated during a separate operation, the NCRPO said.
The suspects arrested await the filing of proper charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while the pieces of evidence recovered during the operations were turned over to the forensic unit for confirmation testing.
Natividad added that the campaign to fight illegal drugs would be intensified to serve the general public further.
“Binabati ko po ang ating mga kasama sa matagumpay na pagsasagawa ng mga buy-bust operations sa ating nasasakupan na naging sanhi sa pagkahuli sa labing apat na drug personalities na ito at pagkakumpiska sa mahigit 2.3 milyong halaga ng ilegal na droga,” Natividad said.
