LTFRB to go on ‘heightened alert’ starting April 8 amid Holy Week, summer season

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday announced that it will go on “heightened alert” starting April 8, in time for the Holy Week and summer season.

According to LTFRB in a statement, it will go on “heightened alert” until April 18, 2022, pursuant to the Department of Transportation’s directive: “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Summer Vacation 2022.”

With this, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III instructed all agency leaders to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and ensure compliance of Bus Terminals with LTFRB guidelines, “which expect heavy influx of passengers due to the Semana Santa.”

Random inspections will also be conducted by the LTFRB in different buses to ensure “road worthiness” and safety of commuters.

LTFRB said commuters heading to provinces may proceed to the following terminals in Metro Manila: the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), the Santa Rosa Integrated Terminal (SRIT), and the North Luzon Expressway Terminal (NLET), and the Araneta Center Terminal.

Private terminals in Metro Manila, on the other hand, can only be accessed by bus operators from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in accordance with the new “window scheme” implemented by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

“Maglalagay din ng mga Malasakit Help Desk na maaaring pagtanungan o pagsumbungan ng mga mananakay,” said LTFRB.

(Concerned Help Desks will also be set up so that commuters can ask questions or report.)

“Ipoposte ang mga Malasakit Help Desk sa mga naitalagang Integrated Terminal Exchange na nauna nang nabanggit at sa mga lugar malapit sa mga pribadong terminals,” it added.

(Concerned Help Desks will be posted at the designated Integrated Terminal Exchanges mentioned earlier and in areas near private terminals.)
