LUCENA CITY––A family outing turned tragic after a 9-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool in a resort in Tiaong town in Quezon province on Sunday, April 3, the police said.

A police report Monday said the victim, Ian Dalangpan and his relatives arrived around 7 p.m. at Lhago Resort in Barangay San Isidro.

While preparing food in one of the cottages, the relatives did not notice that the victim went toward the 7-foot deep swimming pool.

After several minutes, they found the boy’s body floating in the swimming pool.

Rescuers tried to revive the boy but failed and rushed him to Liwag Medical Clinic in the town center, where he was declared dead on arrival.
