MANILA, Philippines — The Bangsamoro mufti on Friday announced that fasting in the holy month of Ramadan will begin on Sunday, April 3.
“By virtue of the authority vested in me, as Bangsamaro mufti, I hereby announce that the first fasting day of Ramadan, will be on Sunday, April 3, 2022,” Sheikh Abu Huraira Udasan, the Grand Mufti of the Bangsamoro, said a press briefing.
According to the Bangsamoro mufti, the holy month of Ramadan was declared as the moon crescent was not sighted this Friday night.
He also said that had the moon crescent been sighted on Friday night, the holy month of Ramadan would have started in the country on Saturday, April 2.
Some 1.7 million Muslims are expected to fast for Ramadan from sunrise to dusk while praying and reflecting.
