Biliran jail escapee rearrested in Quezon City after 4 months

After almost four months of hiding, a detainee of a provincial jail in Biliran was rearrested in Quezon City on Thursday, March 31.

TACLOBAN CITY — After almost four months of hiding, a detainee of a provincial jail in Biliran was rearrested in Quezon City on Thursday, March 31.

Carmelito Abia, 22, who escaped from prison last year, is facing charges of rape in court.

Abia, who is from Kawayan, Biliran, was able to escape by climbing the wall at the Biliran Provincial Jail at 12:30 midnight of December 6, 2021.

He is currently detained at the Quezon City Police District for documentation and proper disposition before he will be returned to Biliran.
