STA ROSA, Laguna — Presidential candidate Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday said in a sortie here that he is still hoping for President Rodrigo Duterte’s endorsement.
This, despite Duterte’s party PDP-Laban faction headed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi’s recent endorsement of the presidential bid of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“I am still hopeful na makuha ko ang boto niyong lahat dito [that I get everyone’s vote] … and that includes the President,” Moreno said in an ambush interview.
“So siyempre, [Of course] the answer is Yes, why not,” the Manila chief executive said of Duterte’s endorsement.
Moreno admitted early Wednesday that PDP-Laban’s endorsement of Marcos Jr. will be a boon to the latter’s candidacy.
Duterte, however, has yet to announce the candidate he is supporting.
The endorsement of PDP-Laban — which was established to overthrow the dictatorship of Bongbong’s father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. — was met with mixed reactions.
Moreno’s camp, for their part, said the party’s endorsement “of their founding fathers’ nemesis is beyond any principled choice.
