Lacson, Sotto deny video claiming they are withdrawing from elections
MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson labeled as fake news a video circulating on YouTube which claimed they are withdrawing from the May 2022 polls.
“Don’t believe that fake news. The only time we will withdraw is on May 9, and it’s either because we’re heading toward Malacañang or heading home,” Lacson said in Filipino in an interview with radio station dwJJ in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija Tuesday afternoon.
The video posted by “Showbiz Fanaticz” claimed Lacson and running mate Sen. Vicente Sotto III are withdrawing from the May 2022 presidential and vice presidential race, and will support the bids of ex-Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Lacson and Sotto spent Tuesday campaigning in Nueva Ecija, where they received a warm welcome from residents of Gapan led by Mayor Emong Pascual.
The tandem later campaigned in Cabanatuan City in the afternoon.
